  • Japan is one of the front runners in Asia in terms of its adoption of open plan arrangements – 60% of Japanese employees work in an open plan arrangement, against just 40% worldwide
  • Japanese offices are the densest in the world – Japanese workers typically share their open plan work areas with 68 people, a figure that is almost 1.5 times higher than the global average
  • Japanese companies face low levels of employee engagement – one-fifth of employees do not feel engaged at all at work, the highest level in the world.

A place of work is far more than a property. It is a living environment that helps individuals and businesses craft and experience a better fusion of life and work.

Japan is home to some of the most space-efficient offices in the world, however this efficiency comes at a price where dense and vast open plan workspaces appear to adversely affect employee experience.
